Oklahoma City, OK - The Oklahoma City Spark is thrilled to announce the signing of left-handed pitcher Kelly Maxwell, a standout from the University of Oklahoma and a current member of Japan's Toyota Shokki team. Maxwell's addition brings a wealth of experience and talent to the Spark's pitching staff.

During the 2024 season with the Sooners, Maxwell achieved a 23–2 record, maintaining a 1.94 ERA over 155.1 innings. She struck out 164 batters, held opponents to a .165 batting average, and recorded 11 complete games, including five shutouts. Her performance was instrumental in Oklahoma securing its fourth consecutive NCAA title, where she earned the Women's College World Series Most Outstanding Player honors.

Maxwell's accolades include being a USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year finalist, All-Big 12 First Team selection, and NFCA First-Team All-Region honoree. Currently, Maxwell is showcasing her skills internationally with Toyota Shokki in Japan's professional league, where she continues to excel in the circle.

"Kelly's track record speaks for itself," said Amber Flores, head coach of the Spark. "Her experience at both the collegiate and international levels makes her a valuable asset to our team."

Maxwell is set to join the Spark following the conclusion of her season in Japan. The 2025 Spark season opener is set for Sunday, June 15th at Tom Heath Field at Oklahoma Christian University against the New York Rise. All home games will be live streamed on the OKC Spark YouTube Channel.

“We can’t wait to see our Spark family fill the stands this summer and bring the same energy and passion that has made us one of the most dynamic teams in professional softball. Together, we will continue to grow the game and foster a love of softball in our community,” said Spark owner Dr. Tina Floyd.
